The project aims at investigating methods and usability of entry data into computing devices using Indic scripts. A user centered approach was taken that included Analyses, Design, Prototyping and Testing as four relevant phases. The brief was to design an easy to use and learn input methodology based on handwriting recognition of vernacular languages.

This project was aimed at how people fill the forms in hindi, how they chunk words letters in forms. There are different kind of forms used by different organization for example question followed by fill in the blank, square boxes provided to fill. In this project square boxes forms are used for the testing.

Key Insights:

1.Chunking of words in the form are differed person to person, some leave one box empty after finishing the word some don’t, different pattern of chunking came into the picture.

2.When it comes to putting the matras (modifiers), people take four edges of square box as a reference and put Matras outside the box (not acceptable when it goes for digitalization) so round boxes are proposed for data entry.
